NATURAL DYE WORKSHOP | Flower printing & bundle dye

Do you love flowers, plants, and nature? Have you ever wondered how to create color with nature or print lasting flowers on fabric? Join us for a special two-in-one workshop with natural dye expert Brook Luallen from Smith & Len.

Discover the fundamentals of natural dyes, flower printing, and bundle dying during this two-hour event, where you will create a custom silk scarf. All skill levels are welcome.

Register for this interactive workshop to learn techniques for printing with fresh flowers and bundle dye with plants, flowers, and vegetables. Workshop attendees will use fresh and dried flowers, onion skins, black beans, and cochineal to design a one-of-a-kind silk scarf. Invite a friend or two to enjoy the morning of learning and community spirit. The Fresno Flower Market will be open from 8 am - 12 pm, shop from local flower growers and other independent shops in the Sun Stereo Warehouse!

Included

• The fundamentals of natural dyeing - materials, mordanting, equipment, etc.
• Step-by-step instructions on the technique of flower printing AND bundle dyeing at home
• Workbook with all the instructions to take home
• Create your own 25” x 25” flower-printed or bundle-dyed silk scarf
• Fresh and dried flowers, plants, and vegetables to create your silk scarf
• Memories and laughter with old or new friends

All items dyed during the workshop will be wet at the end. We will provide a bag to take your naturally dyed creations home. This workshop is a unique experience! Spaces are limited.

Meet the artist:

Brooke Luallen is a local artisan of Fresno, California, who has fallen in love with natural dyes. She has discovered how nature can create beauty within your everyday life. Brooke has many titles: wife, mom of two little ones, art teacher by day, and owner of Smith & Len. She is thrilled to bring the art of natural dyes to the community of Fresno.
